History
The game is believed to have been invented in Robstown, Texas around the turn of the 20th century. Texas Hold Em was first introduced in Las Vegas in 1963 and quickly became popular in the area.
Poker is also known as Poker in Korean.
The most famous and prestigious live poker event known as The World Series of Poker dates back to 1970. The first event featured just 7 players.
The game became extremely popular in the 2000s thanks to its exposure on television, the Internet, and the popular press.
For his quick exposure, a pivotal role was played by an anonymous accountant at the time, Chris Moneymaker. He turned a $40 tournament investment into a whopping $2,500,000 prize pool and took the poker world by storm!
In 2019, 8,569 players from 87 different countries entered the WSOP Main Event to compete for the $10,000,000 first prize. The total prize pool reached an impressive $80,548,600.
Poker rules
The rules of poker are relatively easy to learn, but the game is by no means easy to master. Still, one of the main reasons for its popularity around the world is precisely the simple rules.
Texas Hold Em Poker is played with a standard deck of 52 cards.
The number of players at the table can vary between two and ten. However, large tournaments can have fields of hundreds and thousands of players with huge 5-figure prize pools.
No matter how big the tournament field is, at each point each player competes alone against the other players at the table (maximum 10).
In poker, unlike other card games (such as belot), there is no suit advantage. For example, the Ace of Diamonds and the Ace of Spades are the same.
Before the deal, one player is chosen to be the dealer (the dealer button goes in front of him). In online games, this is done automatically by the software.
Blinds
- The position of the button is crucial as it determines which two players must make the required bets: small and big blinds. Also, the button decides who should act first during the poker hand.
- The player sitting to the left of the dealer is the small blind. Next to it (in a clockwise direction) is the big blind.
- So, for example, in a standard $1 to $2 poker game, the small blind is bound to give $1 and the big blind $2.
In Texas 홀덤총판 (along with other poker games like Omaha), the player after the big blind is always the first to act. This is the so-called Under-the-Gun or UTG position. It is considered the worst position, since you have to play first without any information from the other players.
At the start of each hand, all players are dealt two cards face down (first one, then another). They are known as pocket cards.
Betting options
When all players at the table have dealt both cards, the game is ready to begin. The person sitting after the big blind goes first (under the gun position).
From this position you can pay the big blind, raise it, or fold if you decide the cards aren’t worth playing. Then the player next to him must act then the player to his right, and so on until the last player (the big blind) chooses from his options.
Rondas Postflop
Once all players call, raise or fold, it’s time to move on to the next stage of the game. 3 cards are dealt face up and this represents the FLOP:
All the people at the table share them. Players must place their bets starting with the player who was the small blind preflop (before the 3 cards appeared on the table).
Here the main options are:
- Verify when the person does not put money in the pot.
- Raise, when the player wants to bet.
- Once all bets are finished, the fourth card is dealt: TURN Again, it’s time for the betting to start from or closest to the small blind player (in case the small blind isn’t in the hand at the moment).
